Democrats Hopes of Capturing Bunning's Kentucky Senate Seat Fade

Rand Paul (left) and Trey Greyson (right)

Democrats had hopes of putting the seat of retiring GOP Senator Jim Bunning in play this November. That hope is rapidly fading. Both GOP contenders have solid double digit leads over both potential Democratic challengers. Ophthalmologist Rand Paul is currently polling better against the Democrats than Kentucky’s secretary of state Trey Grayson. Paul is considered the Tea Party candidate. Greyson is supported by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Rasmussen reported:

Ophthalmologist Rand Paul leads Democratic Lieutenant Governor Daniel Mongiardo 51% to 34%. Last month he led Mongiardo 48% to 37%. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate, and 12% are undecided...

Trey Grayson, Kentucky’s secretary of state, is locked in a tight GOP Primary battle with Paul and registers similar numbers against the two Democrats. Grayson leads Mongiardo 46%to 33%....
