NYT Issues Correction for Article Alleging Tea Party Racial Slur was Directed at Rep. John Lewis

Andrew Breitbart has offered a $100,000 to the United Negro College Fund for anyone who can prove Tea Party protesters hurled racial epithets at Rep. John Lewis and members of the Congressional Black Caucus during an anti-Obamacare rally in Washington March 20, 2010. You can see from this video the crowd was boisterous and noisy, but you don't hear any racial epithets. Apparently, the New Your Times can't find any evidence either. They are walking back the claim.

From Power Line:
..there is no evidence that epithets reportedly directed in March at Representative John Lewis, Democrat of Georgia, outside the Capitol, came from Tea Party members.

You can see a screen capture of correction at American Power.

Andrew Breitbart is no longer credible. Nor is the conservative agenda. The last decade has proven beyond a doubt that the conservatives are bereft of ideas other merely defeating Obama. Voters are increasingly becoming aware just how cynical the conservative movement has become. I believe the conservatives will be sorely disappointed this November

I don't agree. Recent polls show Americans are more likely to identify themselves as conservatives. It is liberal who are losing ground since Obama was elected. Americans have seen the true face of liberalism and it is socialism.

It is an axiom that the party in power loses seats during it 1st midterm election. It is also true that "Americans are more likely to identify themselves as conservatives". But that will not necessarily translate in to votes. Bill-o's claims about FOX NEWS' ratings compared to MSNBC as "kicking butt" are also true. Somehow, the voters missed the message and elected the wrong people for the House, Senate AND the White House; while also claiming it was going to be a landslide against the liberals. And given the accomplishments of the Republicans, it doesn't look real good for them THIS time. Also, if you regard Socialism as redistribution of wealth, do you think your insurance premiums are NOT redistributing wealth? Do yoyu want to see you roads and law enforcement and other emergency services privatized? I don't. I would never be able to afford it.

Hey Thom,

Which one of those signs was racist?

Playing the race card simply shows your sides desperation.

Were you part of the Journolist gatherings?

Interested Bystander, You just don't get it do you? Up is down and down is up to you isn't it. The Conservative echo machine has you REALLY truned around doesn't it? That's why the liberals will have the upper hand for at least the next generation. Why don't you show it to one of you "colored" best friends (all of you bigots claim to have at least one)and maybe he can explain it to you. "Those" people are good at that!

You will be dispelled of the idea liberals will rule for the next generation in November. Also, Interested Bystander has been posting here a long time and is no bigot. Being conservative doesn't make anyone a bigot. Conservatives want to lift all boats. Liberals want to pick and choose so they can have control.

bigotry is like porn. you can't explain it but you know it when you see it. Go ahead. show those pics to your colored best friends. They'll see racism. cause they get it. so, how long have you been a starship commander. you've been in space long enough

Hey thom,

I notice you didn't point out ONE sign that was racist, you simply tried to pooh pooh it off by suggesting I show the signs to one of my black friends.

Believe me, I get it:

I understand that your ilk want to tell me I have to wear a seat belt while driving (not the Government's responsibility, now if my insurance company dictated that to have car insurance, one stipulation is that you MUST wear a seat belt, I would understand, but DEFINATELY not the Government's responsibility).

I understand that your ilk agree that we should pay people for being out of work for 99 weeks, even though the law states 26 weeks maximum.

I understand that your ilk told restraunts that they couldn't fry foods in trans fats, and now McDonalds fries have NO TASTE, and now the Government is debating "sodium intake"?

I understand that your ilk's goal is to make 51% dependent on the Government so that your ilk can remain in power until the Coutry implodes, and we have to start all over again.

I could go on, but you get the point.

Oh I get it all right.

Your comments speak volumes as to who "doesn't get it".

Bluegrass Pundit,

Thanks for the kind words.

I honestly didn't think you read my comments.

I read your blog daily, and although I don't comment often, I find your threads very informative.
