Obama shifts FBI from Counter Terrorism to Fraud

President Obama is shifting the focus of the FBI from counter terrorism work to fraud. This is in response to a backlog of 530 active corporate fraud investigations. I am all for investigation of fraud. Perhaps, Obama could have them look into how he got such a sweetheart deal on his house in Chicago. He should look into all those high profile Democrats that seem to avoid paying their fair share of the tax burden. Of course, He will never do that. Instead, they will look into the cases that have come to light as a result of the economic meltdown. I am all for doing that. Banking criminals should got to jail just the same as other criminals. However, I don't want to shift the focus from counter terrorism. Our safety is first. Barack Obama should have had the Democrats drop some of the pork from the stimulus bill and pay for overtime for FBI agents to look into fraud. Just cutting the $50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts would have paid for a lot of fraud investigation. Instead, President Obama is sacrificing our national safety. This shows where his priorities are placed.

WASHINGTON (AP) - With thousands of fraud investigations under way, the FBI is considering shifting agents away from counterterrorism work to help sort through the wreckage of the financial meltdown.

FBI Deputy Director John Pistole told the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday that the bureau may reassign some of the positions that were reallocated to anti-terrorism work after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

Such a move would be a further sign of the government breaking with the Bush administration's priorities, which pledged to assign every available resource to averting another terrorist attack. (excerpted) from breitbart.com
