HAARTZ is reporting the campaign against building a Mosque near Ground Zero is paying dividends.
After weeks of heated debate over plans for an Islamic community center near Ground Zero – the site of the 9/11 attacks on New York – it seems Muslim leaders will soon back down, agreeing to move to a new site....
Sources in New York said on Monday that Muslim religious and business leaders will announce plans to abandon the project in the next few days. More here.
This would be a huge break for President Obama and Democrats. They have been caught on the wrong side of this issue and public opinion.
Update: Big Peace claims the report is untrue. In spite of the fun of watching Democrats thrash about trying to obfuscate their position, I hope for the sake of the 9/11 families the HAARETZ report is true.

For a religion that demands respect and sensitivity from others, why does Islam not show the same respect? I would be threatened with death if I were to draw a cartoon of the Prophet Mohammed and post it here. Yet parts of 1 of the planes crashed through the roof of this proposed location. A "ground-breaking" date of 9/11//11 has been chosen. Coincidence? No one opposes the building of Japanese Cultural Centers but to build one at Pearl Harbor would be disrespectful. No question, they have the right to build it. I only question the motive. Even if your voice is pure Islam, better to let silence reign in this sacred place. That would speak volumes for your religion.

Best to move the site to a more ... blocks from the WTC site, IS NOT a "Ground Zero Mosque ... Look, the builders of this are asking for it, building at Ground Zero....magazines for blacks
