Not So Shocking: Obama Backs Ground Zero Mosque

Actually, I wonder what took him so long. Add the Ground Zero Mosque to the growing list of things Obama is on the wrong side of. 68% of Americans oppose the Ground Zero Mosque.

Reuters reported:
"As a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country," Obama said at an event attended by diplomats from Islamic countries and members of the U.S. Muslim community.

"That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances," he said.

Presedent Obama could have followed up that statement with a request for the Mosque builders to respect the families and victims of 9/11 and chose a more appropriate site. Instead, he tried to separate the 9/11 terrorists from Islam.
"Al Qaeda's cause is not Islam -- it is a gross distortion of Islam,"

In a slap to the face of 9/11 victims families, President Obama made the comments at a Muslim Holy month of Ramadan evening feast.
